Salix discolor

Salix discolor is one of my favorite varieties of plants! It’s a wetland shrub that can be easily found throughout entire North America, especially in meadows and swamps and alongside rivers and lakes.

It also has a great tolerance for dry soil, and under the right circumstances, the shrubs can grow as much as 6 to 15 feet tall, even with a 12-foot spread! If you’re wondering when it’s the proper time to prune them, you can do it in the late winter or first weeks of spring. When it blooms, you will notice that its flowers are yellow. The perfect soil for Salix discolor is medium to wet, with a proper draining system.
