10 Amazing Plants That Keep Insects at Bay

5. Sage

Planting sage in your yard could be your savior if you suffer from summertime spider phobia. When the plant is fully developed, throw some of its leaves into the fire to release its earthy scent, which will ward off insects. Additionally, dried sage can be used to create a variety of DIY insect repellents, many of which are incredibly effective.

6. Chives

Another low-maintenance plant that can easily grow in every garden is chives. Its ugly onion-ish smell can keep unwanted bugs and spiders away from your house. But if you have a furry friend that’s running in your garden, you might want to be careful, because these plants are actually toxic for animals.

However, if you decide to plant chives, you should know they don’t need too much water unless it’s a dry summer. And if you can plant them in the direct sunlight since they love light and warmth, do so.
