Plastering Over The Fireplace

You might not be a fan of open flames. Or you might want to hide an old fireplace that you’re not using anymore to create more wall space. Whatever the case may be, just be aware that if you plaster over that fireplace, you might regret it when it comes time to sell.

Realtors say that a fireplace is one of the top 10 must-haves for many new home buyers, especially in areas where power outages and cold winters are the norms. If you put plaster over your fireplace, it becomes a disadvantage to the home’s sale.

Many home buyers who buy houses with a covered fireplace will undertake a renovation to remove the plaster and will reveal an old brick fireplace. They always give a home some extra character, even when re-painted in a more modern color.
