9 Indoor Plants Nearly Impossible to Keep Alive

7. Poinsettias

Until recently, I used to buy poinsettias every holiday season because they are pretty plants that fill the house with joy just by looking at them. I had no idea that, despite their stunning appearance, they would only last two weeks and could be harmful to our health.

If the white milky fluid gets on your skin, it can cause a rash, and if your pet accidentally consumes it, they may endure skin irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea.

8. Boston Fern

One of my favorite exotic plants is the Boston fern. Its leafy, jungle-like look can complete the look of a bland balcony. But the downside of growing this plant in your apartment is that you must give her all the tropical conditions she needs. If you like challenges and you think you can offer them the proper environment, first of all, buy a larger pot. Then place it in a spot where it can receive sunlight but not directly on its leaves.

If at all possible, pick a spot close to a heat vent that can be opened and closed. During the day, the plant thrives in a temperature range of 65 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit, but fungus cannot develop at night because of a 10-degree temperature drop. Using a humidifier nearby will also aid the fern, especially in the winter, by preventing the air surrounding it from drying out.
