1. Overwatering

One of the worst plant-destroying habits you could have, and I did that before, as you already read, is overwatering your beautiful flowers or shrubs. Imagine that you’ve got a new plant, you’re excited about it, and you want to keep it alive for as long as possible, but too much water isn’t going to help you.

It might be confusing to see the soil dry, but a plant-destroying habit that is guaranteed to mess with the health of your gorgeous plant is giving it too much water, and that’s because you’re actually drowning its roots. As you already know, too much of a good thing is definitely not a smart idea, so you have to learn how much liquid your plant actually needs so you won’t kill it the first time you give it some water.

If you bought it from a store, you could ask the sales assistant for this detail because they’re typically trained to help you with that, or you can check the card that your plant comes with and find out that information from there.

Here’s a tip: in order to avoid this plant-destroying habit, you need to make sure that the drip tray isn’t full about an hour after you’ve watered your plant. If you notice that there’s some water left over there, get rid of it because it might cause more harm than good.
