One of the biggest benefits of growing lemongrass is that it smells absolutely amazing. But insects, including those pesky mosquitoes we hate, can’t stand the smell of it.

By growing lemongrass in your yard, the benefit of growing lemongrass is that you’ll be able to enjoy the outdoors without being plagued by biting insects.

Erosion control and ground cover

If you live in a climate zone where it’s possible to grow lemongrass outdoors in the ground, it can be beneficial as a landscaping plant. It comes in handy as a ground cover and erosion control in tropical and subtropical climates.

But also in hot temperate climate areas. This plant’s root system and clump-forming spreading habit mean it aids in keeping the soil in place. It also helps retain moisture by keeping the soil surface covered.
