9. Coral bell

The rich nectar found in the small, bell-shaped blooms of coral bells is a huge draw for visiting butterflies and hummingbirds. This plant is native to North America and falls into the short-lived perennial category. However, if you regularly divide your coral bells, you can keep a continual supply of these stunning flowers in your yard.

These nectar-rich plants thrive in rich, well-draining soil and a partial shade location. Also, if you want to keep the lovely hummingbirds happy, don’t cut the stems too soon, thinking it will make the foliage richer.

By deadheading spent blooms, butterflies and birds can enjoy a generous supply of flowers right through the warm months of summer and into the fall.
