4. Kudzu

Kudzu vine belongs to the pea family. So far, this plant may seem rather inoffensive, right? After all, peas are a pretty common legume that we see from time to time on the dinner table. On a similar note, kudzu has even been used as livestock feed.

However, this perennial vine with Asian roots is one of the very worst invasive plants of all time and is sometimes referred to as “the vine that ate the South”. Moreover, it’s a huge issue in all Southern states.

Initially grown to shade porches on southern plantations, kudzu has quickly spread to the surrounding territory, where it now devours almost everything it touches. It grows well in both shade and sun and is dangerously invasive throughout the Southeast and South, as well as up the Atlantic seaboard.

A recent strategy involves bringing goats into affected areas and letting them eat their fill.
