Home Inspection: 7 Things That Can Fail You

Water Breaches

Also known as water intrusions, they happen when there is something wrong with the way windows or doors are closed, with some pipes, or with the roof. This one will be easy to catch even before the home inspection is over, as there are usually obvious visual cues that there is a water intrusion around, with staining being left behind, or you can feel that certain walls or parts of the home are damp when they should not be.

You will not be able to fake not having water intrusions if it is a problem with the house, as the inspector will use moisture meters and thermal imaging to figure out if there is a problem even without a water stain.

To avoid having this issue, make sure that you do not have too much vegetation around the walls of your home and that you check for water stains regularly, resolve the issue, and paint the wall if you do find one.

When you are looking for these issues, you may be tempted to make some renovations. Before you commit to some of them, make sure you read all about the most expensive ones, which most homeowners regret later!
