7 Expensive Renovations Homeowners ALWAYS Regret

A Bedroom Converted Into A Walk-In Closet

The kids have moved out. You never use the spare room, so why not turn it into something more useful, like a walk-in closet? Well, before you get excited about a renovation involving slanted shoe shelving, you might want to think about the lost habitable square footage first.

It’s great for keeping your clothes organized. But what happens when you decide it’s time to sell your home? You lost a bedroom when you created that closet. So as you can guess, your home’s value has gone down.

Unless, of course, you convert the closet back into a bedroom, which will cost more money in the end.

Our tip? If you want more space for your shoes, a shoe cabinet is an integral part of any home, seeing as it’s one of the very first things you come into contact with when you step inside. So why not plan a space for one somewhere near your front door?

This could mean off-the-rack or a custom built-in that will cost less than a walk-in closet.
