Check for original tiling and wood floors!

When renovating, you may be tempted to take out the flooring that is in the home so that you can replace it with better, sturdier ones if they are not already made out of hardwood floors. Yet, you may end up with a pleasant (or not) surprise under the flooring, carpeting, and even bathroom tiles!

When flipping homes, a lot of home owners have discovered that hidden underneath their feet was the original flooring of the home! Whether it was made out of tiling or just hardwood flooring that was covered, the historical value of these floors is huge! What’s more, it can also be a good indicator of the period in which the home has been built!

If the wood has been covered for a long time in the rooms and hallways (and in the case of vintage tiling, be it in the kitchen or bathrooms), then you may be lucky enough to be able to restore them to their original design! Not only will you be able to save some money by reconditioning the floor you already have, but you can also preserve the historical value of the home!
