5 Watering Mistakes Your Plants Hate You for

You treat all plants the same way.

When it comes to watering your plants, the number one mistake you can make is to think they’re all the same. Plants come from different species that are wildly different, and they all have different needs for light, temperature, humidity, and water.

A great example would be placing a hydrangea on a rooftop in the full summer sun. If somehow it manages to survive, it could only happen because you remember to water it every day. On the other hand, a cactus will easily survive with zero difficulties under the same conditions, especially if you water it once or twice a week.

It’s very important to learn about the needs of your plants and know where to start.

Here’s a list of plants that you don’t have to water too often:

  • cacti and succulents: prickly pear, echeveria, opuntia, aloe;
  • Herbs: rosemary, lavender, sage, thyme, rockrose, Santolina, and holy basil;
  • Herbaceous plants: Portulaca, Geranium, Gazania, and Pennisetum;
  • Shrubs: roses, burning bush, yucca, Adelphi, lantana, and hibiscus;
  • Indoor plants: Pothos, Snake Plant, Ponytail Palm, Schefflera, Dracaena, Jade Plant;
  • Trees: almond, oak, eucalyptus, mulberry, cypress, thuya, olive tree, fig tree, strawberry tree
