3. Patterns, patterns, patterns

Maybe you’ve noticed that patterned drapery is becoming more popular for use in every room of the house, from the living room to the bedroom and even the bathroom. Experts say there’s a valid explanation behind it.

Given the fact that bathrooms are often made entirely of hard surfaces like tile, stone, plumbing, hardware, and mirrors, adding a layer of texture and pattern with window coverings can greatly soften the space and bring some warmth to what would otherwise be a cold room.

If you went shopping and you noticed a wallpaper that you liked and you can’t take your mind off of it, buy it! However, if you want to be sure that it will stand the test of time, you should make sure that it’s resistant to heat and water.

I like warm and natural colors. If we keep things too simplistic it looks sterile. Giving a feature wall in something natural is fine but don’t overwhelm a smaller sized room with too much color. A bathroom is to remain tranquil.

I certainly hope these are not indicative of the new bathroom styles. These are all too sterile and uninviting. They scream, “Don’t touch!” Can you imagine these same photos after everyone used the bathroom? Where does one store one’s things? Can you imagine children using these spaces, spilling water on the perfect floors, messing up the perfect counters, wet towels lying around, etc.? No thanks. Way too minimalist and cold for me – I prefer to live in a home, not a museum.
