Dairy and meat

When you organize your refrigerator, you should always make more space for perishables, so you won’t have to keep them out of your pantry. When you’re storing items in the pantry, it is super important to avoid storing perishable items that might go bad, like dairy products, fruits, vegetables, and even open packages of food. Instead of storing perishable items in the pantry, dairy products should be stored in the refrigerator.

Also, items with strong odors or that aren’t food should be stored in a separate closet or cupboard. Similarly, fruits and vegetables should go in the refrigerator or a dark place in your kitchen.

Expired spices

Organizing spices is by far one of the most aesthetically pleasing pantry tasks, especially when it comes to matching jars and uniform labels. Altering them this way might hide or remove their expiration dates, and you might forget when it’s the right time to toss them out.

It can be quite a messy job, but you still have to do it. There are many spices in your pantry that you’ve never even used or that might have expired. Toss what you don’t need and keep the spices you regularly use towards the front of your pantry for easy access, so you won’t forget about them.

When you’re storing spices, you always have to make a note of the expiration dates on the bottoms of the new jars or bottles to make sure you’re not using something that has expired.
