Tatarian Dogwood

Tatarian dogwood is commonly known as red-twig dogwood. All I can say is that it is absolutely perfect for rain gardens, because it prefers its soil as moist as possible. The shrub can reach 8 to 10 feet in height and spread, and  it is highly appreciated for its red bark.

If you want to encourage its growth, prune around a quarter of the old stems in early spring every year. If you would prefer a shrub with golden bark, you could also consider the yellow-twig dogwood. When it blooms, you will be impressed with its white flowers. I personally had one in my garden and I was extremely thrilled with it!
