5. Sunflowers

I bet that you never thought that sunflowers weren’t among those plants whose seeds you can still sow in the summer! But according to specialists, if you plant it in early June, the sunflower will grow up to 12 feet by late October. How interesting! They belong to the daisy family and provide bees with a roomy landing place with their huge, dark cores. Bees sense UV light reflected on the petals, which leads to the bullseye of pollen and nectar, but humans just see a large, fluffy, brown circle embraced by cherry-yellow petals.

Living by their name, sunflowers adore sunlight which is why you must plant them in an area where the sun is shining all day long. They’re not that pretentious, but they’d love to have well-draining and moist soil.
