7 Most Common Plant Diseases (and Easy Cures to Try)

6. Anthracnose

Like any other fungus, its favorable environment is a humid one. Anthracnose is a fungus that originates from Colletotrichum spp and Gloeosporium spp and is characterized by leaf spots, wilting, and defoliation. It is one of the fungi that are quite difficult to eradicate, but yes, there are remedies that yield results.

To get rid of this plant disease, you need to remove the affected areas as soon as they appear. If possible, burning is the most effective method as it destroys all the spores and reduces the risk of reinfection. If burning is not an option for you, then dispose of the removed plant material in sealed garbage bags.

For prevention, regular mowing is essential as it reduces the soil’s moisture level and prevents anthracnose from developing.
