Giant Rhubarb a.k.a. Gunnera Manicata

The Giant Rhubarb is a giant, thirsty plant that’s great for rain or bog gardens and is best grown with lots of room for its vast 10-foot height and 14-foot spread.

It has a striking reddish-green flower spike that appears in early summer, adding to this massive plant’s rainforest appeal. We recommend using this plant to border ponds or around any other water features.

This plant tolerates shade and wet soils in zones 7 to 10. But we must mention that some Gunnera species can be invasive.

Ginger Lily a.k.a. Hedychium

The ginger lily has paddle-like leaves that look wonderful in any jungle-themed garden. This big-leaf outdoor plant requires soil with exceptional drainage. But they WILL need frequent watering. They prefer partial shade and have a tendency to grow rather tall.
