4. Salvia

The Salvia genus is a member of the mint family, which is a large group of plants with several perennial and annual species. The most common varieties you’ll see are Salvia greggii, also known as autumn sage, and Salvia nemarosa.

Tall spikes of small, graceful flowers make salvia wonderful nectar-rich plants for the centers or backs of flowerbeds. These flowers emerge in mid-summer and bloom through early autumn. Keep them moist, and they will bloom repeatedly.

Perennial salvia plants grow 18 to 36 inches tall, require no division, and steadily increase in size over time. They are also very easy to grow.

If you don’t have the necessary tools to plant and care for your rich-nectar plants, here’s your ultimate gardening kit you’ll be thankful for!
