Mistake #8: Not Keeping Your Tools Clean

Cleaning and sharpening your garden tools will help keep them in working order, and they’ll last longer. Easy tasks like wiping the mud off your spade after using it help keep the blade sharp and prevent rust from forming.

At the same time, cleaning and oiling secateurs ensure sharp, clean cuts that help plant wounds heal fast and reduce the likelihood of infection setting in.

Furthermore, disinfecting tools after you prune specific plants will reduce the transference of infections from one plant to the other.

If you avoid the mistakes we’ve listed, you’ll be very well on your way to a successful gardening season.

Each one touches on the most important techniques: weeding, planting, harvesting, and dealing with unwanted pests. Just remember to avoid mistakes, and you’ll have the best garden out there!
