Lawn Care Tip: Choose The Grass Based On Your Climate

Your grass isn’t just a single plant. Many grass varieties are used for lawns, including ryegrass, bluegrass, zoysia, fescue, and buffalo grass.

Each kind has its own preferences regarding temperature, soil, and moisture level. For example, warm-season grasses flourish at 75 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cool-season grasses would prefer temperatures of around 65 to 80 degrees. Drought-tolerant grasses can endure a dry climate, while prairie grasses can handle a lot of rain.

Choosing the kind of grass that’s naturally suited to your yard’s conditions means that you won’t need to spend as much cash and time to keep it healthy.

A good lawn care tip we can give you is that you should figure out what works best where you live by contacting your area’s Cooperative Extension Service.
