Asarum canadense

Asarum canadense, commonly known as Canadian wild ginger, is a super interesting native plant to pick for your shaded garden. The plant is a low-grower, and it prefers deep shades with moist soil. It actually makes plenty of flowers, too. You just have to look for them.

Astilbe

I love Astilbe; it’s my personal favorite. It has lacey and toothed leaves with feathery plumes of pink, white, red, and purple flowers. It usually blooms from early to midsummer. Naturally, a little bit of morning sun would help them bloom even more, but they can easily adjust to partial shade, too.

Epimedium

These tiny plants are commonly known as fairy wings or bishop’s caps, thanks to the adorable shape of their flowers, which appear in early spring. They really don’t like foot traffic, so you better plant them somewhere where they won’t be stepped on.
