10 Most Unusual Plants You’ve Never Heard Of

3. Trachyandra

At first glance, this unusual plant looks like an artificial one. With its curling foliage that makes it look intriguing and fancy, the Trachyhandra plant is pretty uncommon. Also, not many garden stores sell it.

The leaves are either coiled, curled, or in a spiral. Sometimes they look like folded ribbons. From the base, a single flower stalk (also known as a peduncle) is produced. Like most succulents, Trachyhandra’s leaves can store more water compared to other plant species. Therefore, they are almost drought-tolerant.

The foliage of this unusual plant is already unique, but wait until you see the Trachyhandra flowering. As winter ends and spring comes, this houseplant produces a grayish-white flower from a single erected stalk.
